The Sweater-Meryn Cadell

100% A+ for implementation and delivery. For what this song is, a spoken word retro-pastiche satire of heteronomative teen angst and the deep desire for conformity impressed upon impressionable youth. Also, for some reason Jeff Gannon reminded us way back about this tune, and now we can bring the you tuber.

  • I would listen to this if I were allowed to play music at work.

  • The Uncanny Canadian

I think there’s a cultural gap somewhere that has made me unaware this song existed in the past. The video and style are interesting, but not really funny enough for me. This needs to be like King Missile funny for me to love it. But there is something very interesting about Meryn Cadell.

  • where were you guys in 1991? Try to find “The Pope”

    This song is so 1992.

I love Meryn Cadell, she’s like Laurie Anderson without the artsy pretensions.

  • I agree with UC. With King Missile, I wanted to find out what happened to the hero’s penis. Where had it been? What had it seen?

This is not bad but the subject matter is not as dramatic. It’s Temple of Doom to Raiders of the Lost Ark.

  • are you kidding me?

We listened to this song for months and months back in the day.

Am I actually cooler than all of you? Who knew?

  • K- it is pretty clear you and I had the same “back in the day”- UC was listening to Emerson Lake Etc. in those days.

  • I have only one thing to say to you Brando:

    On Monday….you wear the sweater.

  • To school.

    also “ape-scent gloriola”
